SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE JANE GOODALL INSTITUTE ( SOUTH AFRICA)

Notice is hereby given that the Special General Meeting of the Trust will be held at 6:00PM on the 8 TH OF FEBRUARY 2012, at The Johannesburg Zoo, Anglo Gold Ashanti Conference Centre, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold.

PURPOSE OF MEETING

The meeting is held to review and asses the strategy of the trust and if deemed fit to pass the following resolutions:

• Consider and approve the annual financial statements;
• Elect trustees. Jane Goodall, Edwin Jay and Alan Kirchner retire in accordance with the trust deed and offer themselves for re-election.
• Elect Chairman and Vice Chairman.

AGENDA FOR MEETING

• Welcome all Trustees and invited guests.
• Open meeting if quorum is present and if statutory time periods for the notice of this meeting, have been complied with or waived.
• Consider and if deemed fit pass the 3 resolutions referred to above.
• Presentation of strategic plan adopted in July 2011.
• Open discussion on strategic plan, finances and the way forward.
• General

Roots & Shoots South Africa forms part of the Jane Goodall Institute South Africa, which is a non-profit organisation comprised of volunteers ranging from young children, teenagers, young adults and the more mature adults.

Roots & Shoots, a worldwide youth organization was formed by Dr. Jane Goodall to create awareness amongst youngsters on key issues such as the environment, animals and helping communities in need. By providing young people with positive experiences within their community and the natural world, Roots & Shoots aims to establish an ethic of care for the land, its people, and its animals; to cultivate an understanding of the interdependence of all life on earth; and to inspire love, respect, admiration, and a high regard for its value.

Roots & Shoots strives to do this in a practical and enjoyable manner, and participants can look forward to lots of hard work together with lots of fun and laughter!
 

THE GOALS OF ROOTS & SHOOTS

• To implement positive change through active learning about, caring for and interacting with the environment, demonstrating care and concern for all animals, and enhancing understanding between individuals of different cultures, ethnic groups, religions, socio-economic levels and nations through our global communication network.

• To help young people develop self-respect, confidence in themselves and hope for the future by participation and creation of different types of educational programmes and community outreach projects.

• In addition, Roots & Shoots enjoys partnerships with other organisations in order to achieve similar goals
